Experience & Education

My Training
My education began with the Big Sky Working Dog Club in Montana, where I had and still have many mentors.
When I decided to make this dog training thing a profession, I attended Tarheel School for Dog Trainers and learned about police and sport dogs including detection, tracking, and apprehension. I wasn't done learning though, so I attended K9 Foundations Dog Trainer School and earned my certification in obedience, tracking, detection, and sports coaching.
I regularly attend seminars and events to further my understanding and become better at the craft of dog training.
I truly believe in the power of nose work, any type of nose work, for dogs that are less confident. It is a chance for the dog to work near but not on top of other dogs and humans. For excited dogs, ten minutes of sniffing with an intended puzzle to figure out is equivalent to an hour of running. It teaches owners how to read their dog, and dogs that they can problem solve and do have an effect on their surroundings. I participate in a few types of nose work and think it is a fantastic outlet for any dog.
Pretty much every week you can find me training with the Rose City Working Dog Association and I title my personal dogs in sport.
